In order to complete our team, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Institute of Sports Sciences (ISSUL) wishes to expand its team by recruting a
TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP or ASSOCIATE PROFESSORIN SOCIOLOGY OF GENDER AND SPORT
In your functions, you will have to :
Teaching (45%)
Six hours a week of teaching throughout the year, at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Additionally supervision of Master’s dissertations and PhD theses.
Research (45%)
The post-holder will pursue research in the sociology of gender and sport. They will also conduct research in conjunction with international sporting organisations, which are well represented in
the local context. They will be expected to produce international-level academic research publications.
The post-holder will also collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Sports Research (CIR Sport) and the future Global Observatory for Gender Equality & Sport (UNESCO).
They will also seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Administrative responsibilities (10%)
In accordance with statutory requirements and in the name of collegiality, the post-holder will take on any administrative tasks that may be assigned to them by the Institute, Faculty, University or university decision-making bodies.
In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills :
- PhD in sociology or equivalent qualification
- Academic teaching experience in the sociology of gender and sport
- Proven research record in the sociology of gender and sport
- Good links with international research networks in the field
- Ability to attract external research funding
- Proficiency in French and English, orally and in writing
- Ability to teach in French within two years.
