Performance Team Leader
Performance Team Leader (Geneva - Switzerland)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Performance Team Leader to join our dynamic Simulation and Performance team dedicated to all non-SingleSeater FIA Championships.
This role is a hybrid position, with the responsibilities share between senior performance engineering tasks and leading a small team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for motorsport, exceptional technical expertise, and leadership skills.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
Non-SiSe Performance Group Management (30%)
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely delivery of team objectives
- Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of performance engineers
- Set and monitor objectives in collaboration with the Head of Performance & Simulation
- Ensure role and task redundancy through knowledge and experience sharing
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
- Coordinate with other departments to align performance engineering goals with broader organizational objectives
Senior Performance Engineering (70%)
- Act as Principal Performance Engineer for the non-Single Seater World Championships (performance analysis, vehicle simulations, race/test attendance, regulatory support, etc.)
- Lead and contribute to performance analysis and technical regulations for other relevant categories (WEC, Rally, Formula E, Cross-Country, etc.)
- Exploit and improve the existing vehicle models database while maintaining a high standard of correlation
- Develop methods, processes, and measurement tools for performance studies
- Deliver state-of-the-art simulation results, with a focus on:
- BoP, EoT, Compensation Weight, and Success Ballast in all relevant FIA championships
- Architecture and race car design (e.g., 4WD, Hybrid, Energy Management)
- Ensure consistency, quality, and on-time delivery of pre- and post-event analysis reports
Regulations
- Contribute to the mid- and long-term strategy for championship regulations
- Support the definition of performance-related regulations (Aerodynamics, Power Unit, chassis, hybrid systems, tires)
PROFILE
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees or specialized certifications are a plus
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required, proficiency in French is a plus, and knowledge of any additional language is appreciated
- Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and interpretation to derive actionable insights for vehicle performance optimization
Technical expertise
- Vehicle Dynamics: In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and various automotive subsystems to develop accurate and comprehensive simulation models
- Powertrain and Subsystems: Expertise in powertrain, hybrid systems, chassis, aerodynamics, and tires in the field of motorsport
- Simulation Software: Proficiency in industry-standard simulation tools such as AVL, MATLAB/Simulink, or proven experience with bespoke lap-time simulation tools
- Telemetry Tools and APIs: Hands-on experience with telemetry tools such as Atlas, Wintax, and Motec
- Programming Skills: Good experience in Python or a willingness to learn and apply Python programming
