Reuters is seeking an experienced journalist with strong news judgment and a knack for developing sources to join our team in Geneva.
In this position you will generate agenda-setting coverage of international and Swiss topics in coordination with the local senior correspondent, multimedia colleagues and with the wider global Reuters team. Every big crisis in the world makes its way to Geneva, where the UN’s Europe headquarters and a cluster of NGOs offer a huge amount of experts and information on humanitarianism, human rights, trade, disarmament, peace talks and public health. Switzerland is also home to many of the world’s major sports governing bodies from the IOC to FIFA, providing an opportunity to dig into the major news stories surrounding world sport.
About the Role
As Correspondent, Switzerland at Reuters, you will:
- Build strong sources to help break news and generate agenda-setting exclusives
- Provide a steady stream of initiative and deeply reported stories that showcase your expertise
- Work closely with the Reuters network of correspondents around the world
- Produce engaging copy, including using graphics and data, for our global media and financial readers
- Work with visual colleagues to help complement the multimedia file
- Cover major breaking news outside the main beat as part of shared bureau duties
About You
You're a fit for the role of Correspondent, Switzerland at Reuters if you have:
- A passion for breaking news and developing sources
- Excellent news judgment required, with focus on big stories and wider context
- A knack for working as part of a team across borders, language and media
- Ability to work under pressure at a news wire, where speed, accuracy and balance are essential
- Excellent written English and fluent French
- Experience in global sport enterprise reporting would be a plus
