System Engineer – Plant Dynamics & Simulations (m/f)
Job Description Summary
Within the team Plant Operability & Design” the System Engineer – Plant Dynamics & Simulations” is responsible for building simulation models and to execute the simulations to deliver for NPI programs. He takes ownership for related tool maintenance and their further development. He ensures plant concepts are well reflected in the integration tool Cyplus, while being properly aligned with Product Operability features. He will supervise regular tool maintenance and updates. He will specify coding needs if tool adaption is required.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Integrated model generation to prepare for complex transient simulations
- Performing and analyzing plant integrated simulation runs
- NPI support; optimizing existing and developing of new plant concepts
- Transfer of NPI results into a dedicated Plant Integration Tool
- Coordination and alignment of data interface between Product related design tools and the Plant Integration Tool
- Functional collaboration with related GE functions like GT, ST, HRSG and other interfacing partners
- Preparation of specifications, defining frontend coding needs to adapt the user interface to our Plant Integration Tool
- Coordination, review and approval of tool updates provided by others
- Performing backend coding to maintain, update or enhance our Plant Integration Tool and its communication with Product interfacing design tools as well as its communication with the plant modeling & simulation tool
- Ensuring tool consistency with the functional guarantee policy
- Plant Integration Tool user support for ITO, OTR, NPI and Service engineering
- Organizing and driving GE internal IT support for our team used Operability tool network landscape

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical Engineering or related disciplines from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Dedicated experience in APROS model generation and execution of transient simulations
- Proven coding experience in Phyton programming language
- Well understanding of thermodynamics, preferably in combination with combined cycle power plant applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interface effectively within the organization across different faculties as well as to partners outside the company

Desired Characteristics:
- Experience in power plant engineering
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
- Strong analytical skills working independently and in a team
- Self-motivated with the ability to lead and drive dedicated engineering assignments
- Expertise in JavaScript, PostgreSQL, NodeJS, React and Flask
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Willingly to travel
