Description:
The Staff Engineer is responsible for leading medium-to-large engineering projects and overseeing a specific technical program or programs (e.g. machine safety, digital strategy, technology roadmap, capital investment, etc.).
The role of Staff Engineer will support Ethicon MedTech manufacturing operations in Athens, Georgia and Cornelia, Georgia.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively and safely manages projects of high complexity within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Leads program(s) to deliver business objectives and manages a portfolio of projects under program governance
- Collaborates with other plant functions and external vendors to design new manufacturing equipment or modify existing manufacturing equipment in accordance with regulatory, industry, and J&J standards.
- Plans, coordinates, and executes qualification of new and/or improved manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
- Supervises contractors supporting projects and programs
- Serves as second-level escalation resource to provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to manufacturing operations to resolve equipment and automation issues.
- Researches new technologies to improve process safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
- Prepares oral and written technical reports and project updates
- Coordinates training of personnel on equipment operation and maintenance
- Assists in preparation of annual budget, including identification of new projects to drive growth and cost control for both enterprise and operating company success.
- Organizes and presents Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for project scope and funding.
- Provides technical mentorship to professionals in Engineering and Maintenance
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
- Adheres to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines.
