The International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) priority is to govern the sport of hockey worldwide. In so doing it must increase the participation, the profile, and the financial viability of the sport.

For our headquarters in Lausanne, we are looking for a

Sport Coordinator

Mission:

The strategic purpose of this position is to work closely with the other members of the Sport department and FIH stakeholders, promoting umpiring and officiating, improving relevant processes and procedures, ensuring efficient sanctioning and setting up of official international matches and competitions on both FIH Tournament Management Systems.

The Sport Coordinator will be also responsible for managing uniform advertising processes, lead Anti-Doping Education efforts, collaborate with data analysis and research projects and be the Secretary of the Umpires Committee.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordination and development of hockey officials

  • Advocate for umpires and officials to fulfil the FIH's vision of hockey as an inspiring game for future generations.
  • Manage officials’ appointments for FIH Events as well as FIH sanctioned events including multi-sport events (e.g. Olympic Games) and official test matches.
  • Implement FIH processes for the FIH Officials’ panels in the selection of Officials
  • Build strong links with National Associations, Continental Federations and other key stakeholders.
  • Review and develop automated protocols, regulations and organisational policies and documents to improve the efficiency of hockey officiating.
  • Oversee umpires' fitness test submissions and manage relevant data to enhance the umpiring performance monitoring system.
  • Manage the regrades process of officials, from applications to updating relevant sites, informing officials and the respective stakeholders.
  • Assist various stakeholders with Coach Logic by creating and managing members and groups, check and do video input as well as assist Officials with their access.
  • Assist the Sport and Events Coordinator with the management of officials’ kit distribution.

2. Efficient sanctioning, uploading, and recording of official international matches and competitions using the Tournament Management System (TMS) and FIH Global TMS System (FIH TMS)

  • Sanctioning and setting up of official international matches and events, indoor, outdoor, hockey5s and hockey-ID.
  • Enhance the sanctioning process through review and development, implementing innovative forms and IT solutions to streamline event requests and information collection, ensuring efficiency and user-friendliness for stakeholders.
  • Assist all stakeholders (CFs, NAs, Officials) with queries regarding both systems.
  • Ensure match-based data is captured, stored, and organised accurately and efficiently for all users.
  • Continual improvement of the new FIH Global TMS system to improve the efficiency of processes.
  • Contribute to the development of the FIH Global TMS and its training procedures, testing and providing insights as to FIH’s requirements of the product.

3. Management of Uniform Advertising

  • Promote the FIH’s strategy to build a recognized powerful image of hockey through the management of uniform advertising applications, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as the FIH point of contact for all stakeholders with queries regarding Uniform Advertising.
  • Review and develop innovative ways of streamlining the Uniform Advertising Approval process to be more user friendly and efficient.

4. Management of Anti-Doping Education

  • Update and manage the Anti-Doping Education Plan to promote awareness to hockey athletes, coaches, and team staff.
  • Collaborate with NADOs and Event hosts to set up booths and activations to raise awareness of Anti-Doping and educate to various stakeholders.
  • Maintaining/organizing records of the relevant papers from all FIH, such as Anti-Doping Certificates and improve administrative processes.

5. Data Analysis and Research Projects

  • Oversee all data and research initiatives, from the data collection and analysis to presenting results and recommendations.

6. Secretary of the FIH Umpiring Committee

  • Manage and coordinate the business of the FIH Umpiring Committee, including organising and attending meetings, preparing reports, and taking minutes.
  • Coordinate all Umpire and Umpires Manager appointments for all FIH Events as well as Multisport Events.
  • Various yearly panel reviews of Umpires and Umpires Managers.
  • Development and monitoring of fitness testing for umpires.
  • Updating documentation linked to Umpiring and Umpire Managing.

7. FIH Quality Programme

  • Assisting the Sports and Events Coordinator and the Facilities and Quality Programme Manager in management of QP in areas including but not limited to:

- Promotion of QP suppliers on FIH social media channels.

- Logging receipt of test reports and follow up.

- Maintaining records of certified facilities and hockey products and update the website.

And any other reasonable task that the employer may ask of the employee.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of sport work experience in an international work environment.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification.
  • Hockey experience and knowledge of the sport is mandatory.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, other languages are a plus.
  • Experience in running a committee.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital transformation/process improvement.
  • Experience with Coach Logic is a plus.
  • Full-Stack Statistical Analysis experience (with sports related data preferably).
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Tournament Management Systems (experience with testing these systems is a plus).
  • Sports officiating and event management experience.
  • Adult education or human resources background would be an asset.
  • Creative, original thinker who understands and respects cultural differences.
  • Software knowledge: MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, SharePoint.
  • Appreciate working as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
