Senior Expert Scientist - Computational Flow Dynamics (80 -100%)
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a globally recognized scientific authority in one of the core technologies for ABB, where you will drive new technology, software, product, and/or solution development. Each day, you will define strategic research, system architecture, or development direction for future offerings by combining state-of-the-art methods with new, out-of-the-box approaches. You will further showcase your expertise by evaluating technologies and markets (ABB and competition) in the relevant ABB domain.The work model for the role is: onsite & hybrid This role is contributing to the Electrification business globally. In your new role, you will :• Lead and perform research in the field of arc simulations, dielectric and thermal simulations with special focus on CFD and numerics• Contribute to ABB's development of MV and LV products by creating beyond state-of-the art simulation tools: enabling new product designs; analysing, understanding the state-of-the art products and designing strategies to go beyond• Develop and lead the research strategy in the of CFD within ABB; challenge the business units with new ideas, develop technology roadmaps for research and business communities• Lead large development projects; actively share your deep technical knowledge and lead others• Influence and contribute to the global research communitiy in this field; connect to newest developments and incorporate them into our research
- More than 8 years eperience as senior researcher in development of breakers; successful lead of research / development projects, strategic and business orientation
- Proven record of development and application of high fidelity simulations to low- and medium voltage devices (especially arc simulations, behaviour of switchgear, thermal problems)
- Strong outreach / connection to the academic world, able to include new methods and ideas into an industrial development process, excellent publication record
- Experience in leadership and strategy development for research processes, proven IP record
- In-depth technical expertise in the fields of CFD / finite elements / general numerical methods. Ability to connect to developments in other industries and to incorporate them into own work.
