Role Summary:
GTT has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director of Income Tax to join the tax team that will report to the Senior Vice President, Tax. The Senior Director will be responsible for income tax aspects of the global group including strategic planning, the tax provision under ASC 740, tax due diligence and controversy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic tax planning
- Accounting for Income Taxes under ASC 740 including financial statement disclosures, tax footnote, UTP (Fin-48) and MD&A
- Assist with and manage tax due diligence and document review
- In coordination with the Sr. Director of Global Tax, manage global transfer pricing including documentation ensuring compliance with IRS rules
- Monitor and document all US Federal, state, and US International reporting requirements, e.g., Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, FTC, CBC reporting, Pillar 2 and transfer pricing law changes that may affect the GTT group, coordinating with the Sr. Director of Global Tax and local country tax service providers, as needed
- Manage and review all compliance service providers to ensure the timely and accurate filing of the US Federal Income Tax return and state tax returns
- Manage US income tax controversy including working with service providers to determine optimal strategy
- Draft and/or review complex tax-related documents including opinions, memoranda, transaction documents and transfer pricing documentation
- Responsible for implementing, performing, documenting, and evaluating quarterly and annual FIN 48 discovery process
- Develop, implement, and execute on internal controls related to income taxes; responsible for internal control compliance
- Tax department research resource and corporate tax law technical specialist
- Mentor, develop, and train staff
Qualifications/Experience:
- B.S. Degree in Finance or Accounting
- M.S. Tax, J.D., or CPA preferred
- More than 15 years of professional experience with at least 10 years of experience with a multinational organization and/or advising multinational organizations
- Strong federal, state, and international income tax technical skills required
- Transfer Pricing experience required
- Experience with telecommunications, technology, and/or e-commerce
- Industry experience strongly desired
- Mergers and acquisitions experience; cross-border experience highly preferred
- Exceptional analytical and tax research skills required
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and ASC 740 required
- Experience evaluating, documenting and managing FIN 48
- At least 5 years of preparing and/or reviewing SEC disclosures related to the financial reporting for income taxes
- Experience with developing and validating internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley
- Flexible, with the ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
- Self-starter, flexible, diligent, and a creative problem solver
- Proficiency in MS Office suite
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to non-tax professionals
- Experience supervising teams to build an atmosphere of trust; providing technical training and mentorship to other team members; coaching staff including providing timely and meaningful feedback.
