Research Assistant for Hate Speech Annotation (German-speaking)
The Public Policy Group / Immigration Policy Lab at ETH Zurich invite applications for a research assistant position.
The position supports our research agenda to develop safe and effective measures to curb harmful online content and strengthen public discourse. As part of our efforts, we are using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and natural language processing to algorithmically detect hate speech across a variety of online venues (newspaper and social media). To do so, we need an up-to-date, high-quality corpus of training data.
Your task will be to annotate comments collected from online forums of Swiss newspapers according to whether they contain hate speech or not. You will receive a new set of comments each week that you can annotate flexibly within a given week using a simple interface provided by us. Remote work is possible.
You are currently studying at a Swiss university, are independent and reliable and have a structured, precise working style. You are proficient in German and have a strong command of both English and German. Knowledge of French is desirable for the position.
The position is secured for 6 months starting mid September 2024. You will be integrated into a dedicated research team and remunerated in accordance with ETH guidelines.
