Product Unit Head Automation & Robotics

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Unit Head Automation & Robotics to join our R&D and Technology department at Rieter. This role is pivotal in driving our automation strategy within an intercontinental and interdisciplinary context, covering regions such as Germany, the Czech Republic, China, and India. The successful candidate will be key in integrating and advancing automation, robotics, and textile machinery, by implementing Rieter’s Automation strategy.
This position is directly linked to our Digital initiative and encompasses a broad spectrum including AGV and collaborative robotics.

Your Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of key automation initiatives within the spinning mill environment in close alignment with the Digital Solutions team and other Product Units.
  • Drive revenue growth and productivity goals while ensuring product quality.
  • Lead multifunctional teams in identifying key automation opportunities and integrating global best practices in automation and robotics solutions.
  • Establish key partnerships with external providers, universities, and research institutes.
  • Develop individual business cases and execution plans for large investment initiatives and secure management approval.
  • Manage the execution of initiatives in collaboration with internal and external partners, ensuring robust processes and achieving project goals within committed timelines and budgets.
  • Engage key stakeholders across the manufacturing network and business partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Manage team and project budgets and provide regular updates to senior leadership on the technical, business, and financial status of initiatives.
  • Build and sustain a team of capable resources for the execution of initiatives and development of automation roadmaps and customer projects.
Your Qualifications
  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Industrial Automation).
  • Project Management Certification.
  • Desirable: experience in business management incl. P&L responsibility
  • Extensive expertise in creating new solutions based on a depth of knowledge in the field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial engineering of automation.
  • 5 years of experience leading large and complex automation projects and teams.
  • Leadership experience in a matrix environment within a multinational company.
  • Proven experience in identifying and partnering with solutions providers, universities, and research institutes for advanced technology development.
  • Experience in building and developing teams to deliver results.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and German language.
  • Ability to develop compelling, fact-driven business cases and secure investment decisions from senior leadership.
  • Application of processes for technology development and project execution.
  • Willingness to globally travel up to 30%.
