Reporting to the US Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) Director of Medical Affairs, the Regional Medical Science Liaison will be responsible to provide medical, scientific, technical, and customer-focused support to both internal and external customers. This role will provide guidance to the commercial organization from a medical perspective to maximize value of current and future products and solutions for the MDS US commercial organization.
The role will be responsible for developing and/or enhancing relationships with MDS customers across the United States to provide medical insights into the use of the MDS portfolio. The MSL will also develop relationships in a collaborative manner across all BD business units for a cohesive, comprehensive approach to scientific exchange.
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic medical leadership as a valued member of the MDS US team
Provides medical and scientific support to current and future commercialized solutions and devices and provides support for issue management on current devices and solutions
Provides scope of practice support to customers
Provides clinical acumen to support the public affairs/market access/government affairs teams for market development activities
Provides medical and scientific support to the development of new products and solutions to the MDS US platform
Works collaboratively with other MDS US Medical Affairs associates to provide support to the following entities:
- Provides insight on evidence generation to MDS evidence generation council
- Provide insight on key opinion leader development to KOL manager
- Disease state presentation development and offerings at local and national events
Solutions offerings
Serves as an internal medical expert for products and disease-related content, product labeling and issue management for current devices
Provides medical and scientific contributions in the development of strategic plans for the MDS US Region
Contributes to the development and implementation of clinical research and educational projects in the areas of interest within the United States and participates in the development plans for future clinical studies
Directs the distribution of scientific and medical information to internal and external customers, while meeting appropriate legal and regulatory guidelines
Is a contributor in the development of strategic go-to-market models from a medical and scientific perspective with marketing and platform partners
Working with platform partners and global medical affairs partners, participates as needed as part of the crisis-management teams for marketed products or solutions in the case of corrective field actions
Directs the regular review of scientific literature in cooperation with marketing for MDS US products as warranted
Continuously maintain a state-of-the-art level of knowledge for medical and commercial teams pertaining to the developments of medical trends in science relevant to the business
Continually develop knowledge of regulatory, pharmacovigilance and quality assurance requirements in alignment with BD Practice Standards
Qualifications:
BSN degree is required.
Masters prepared preferred (MSN, MBA)
Certifications related to vascular access preferred
At least 5 years related experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry within clinical research or medical affairs preferred
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, e.g., scientific and commercial focused environments
Demonstrated ability to network and develop relationships with industry, academia, medical professional networks
Strong leadership skills, ability to set direction and bring together different matrixed teams
Strategic problem solver and has a creative, solution-oriented style
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is constantly evolving and can lead multiple projects with adventurous deadlines to successful completion
Possesses strong work ethic, high integrity coupled with strong ethical and scientific standards
Ability to travel up to 65% of the time within the United States
