Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership to guide the company's strategic direction in commodities finance and investment.
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the company's presence in global commodity markets, including greenfield equity and trade finance.
- Drive business growth through innovative structuring of finance and offtake agreements.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, building a significant pipeline of structured and equity-related transactions.
- Establish and lead a separate business entity to manage long-term structured and equity-related transactions.
- Execute transactions with key industry players, such as miners, traders, and end-users.
- Oversee the setup and management of new business entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the establishment of infrastructure for new businesses, including staffing, systems, and processes.
- Manage the execution of complex transactions, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior industry personnel, including miners, traders, and governmental organizations.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and roadshows, enhancing the company's reputation and market presence.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and solutions for complex financing needs.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing team to support the growth of the business.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement and excellence.
Requirements:
- Degree in Law, preferably with focus on international Law.
- Min. 14 years of international work experience with multiple commodities finance and investment, incl. metals, oil & gas, coal and petrochemicals, deep understanding of physical commodity flows and market dynamics.
- 10 plus years of comprehensive experience across all aspects of commodities finance, including trade finance, structured products, and equity investments in Asia, incl. Singapore is an absolute must.
- At least 10 years’ experience in leading business development in Asia, incl. Singapore and other international markets.
- Min. 8 years of experience in creating and leading new business entities, from inception to profitability is mandatory.
- Min. 5 years of experience in legal and financial due diligence, profound legal and financial knowledge.
- Proven track record of building and scaling profitable commodities-related businesses.
- Established relationships with senior industry stakeholders, including miners, traders, and end-users in SEA and EMEA.
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- Good knowledge of Afrikaans and Chinese is a must.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders and representing the company at industry events.
