Position
The Innovation Office is leading the University of Basel’s activities and initiatives in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation, operating directly under the guidance of the University President.
To fulfil our vision, "propelling innovators to achieve impact", we 1) support start-up ventures on their journey by equipping innovators with skills, the right mindset & a network to succeed; 2) co-create and drive innovation collaborations together with industry partners that tackle complex challenges; 3) focus on international collaboration and impact, in Europe and beyond.
Your position
We aim to strengthen our team across various areas; public-private partnership platforms, startup and entrepreneurship initiatives. We are looking for team members with experience and passion for organizing engaging activities across various topics, and creating opportunities for collaboration and growth.
On one hand, you will be supporting the implementation and execution of different programs, ensuring timely delivery while building a strong innovation community locally, and globally. You should be excited and willing to execute hands-on work yourself, i.e. organizing and running workshops, programs and events, handling communications, growing and managing your own budget.
On the other hand, depending on your experience and interests, you contribute to:
Public-Private Partnership Platforms: Activate and onboard stakeholders from academia, industry, and government to tackle complex challenges and create impactful partnerships for example in area food, nutrition, sustainability and health innovation.
Startup & Entrepreneurship Initiatives: Developing and delivering courses, incubation and mentoring programs, networking activities that equip individuals with entrepreneurial skills inspire a growth mindset and provide hands-on support to help them grow and succeed.

Your profile
For this particular role, you should thrive on the challenges of a multi-stakeholder setting (i.e. academia, start-ups, industry, international collaboration) and be able to demonstrate prior achievement.
- Formal University qualification in any academic field & 1-5 years of relevant professional experience (multiple roles);
- Experience in working with start-ups, in a start-up, or in a start-up like environment;
- Experience in engaging people from various backgrounds and fields (i.e. students, start-ups, investors, government officers, industry)
- Excellence in reporting preparation to governmental stakeholders and other funders, with attention to quality and timely delivery is a must;
- Writing & presentation skills for both public and private stakeholders;
- Strong communicator with excellent self-organizational skills;
- Working language in the Innovation Office is English, however excellent command of either French or German (ideally both) is desired for this position;
- International working experience is an advantage;
- Strong preference for candidates living in, or willing to relocate to Basel.
