My client is currently searching for L4 Lead Blade Repair Technicians. (Must have rights to work in USA.)
Key Responsibilities:
Glass Layer Scarfing:
- Independently perform scarfing on up to 15 layers of glass, ensuring alignment with engineering guidelines.
Blade Damage Assessment and Repair Strategy:
- Evaluate structural damage to wind turbine blades and work with engineering teams to formulate appropriate repair strategies.
Blade Model Identification:
- Recognize different blade models and understand the distinct repair techniques required for each.
Transversal Crack Repairs:
- Carry out repairs on transversal cracks independently, without requiring supervision.
Trailing Edge (TE) Bond Line Repairs:
- Conduct TE bond line repairs autonomously, with precision based on blade-specific measurements.
Lightning Damage Inspection and Repair:
- Perform inspections, testing, and repairs related to lightning damage, including maintenance of the blade and the Lightning Protection System (LPS).
Mentorship and Team Support:
- Assist and guide other technicians, contributing to their professional growth and supporting their tasks.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience and Certifications:
- Proven experience in blade repair, particularly on wind farms.
- Certified in self-rescue techniques and First Aid/CPR.
- Must hold current OSHA 10, down tower, and up tower certifications; GWO certification is advantageous.
Technical Expertise:
- Ability to follow detailed repair instructions accurately.
- Proficient in handling chemicals used in blade repair processes.
Independent and Collaborative Work:
- Capable of working independently without supervision and effectively collaborating within a team.
Physical and Environmental Capabilities:
- Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods and work in confined spaces.
- Prepared to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Must meet physical fitness requirements as needed.
Adaptability and Mobility:
- Willing to work on-site, often in remote locations away from home.
- Adaptable to changes in project scope and schedule.
Driving and Safety Standards:
- Valid US driver’s license with a driving record that adheres to company policies.
- Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety protocols.
