Our Project Sourcing team works hand in hand with project owners and developers, active in the carbon markets and renewable energy space, to identify, negotiate and contract new emission reduction projects. By acquiring new projects within our portfolio, we ensure that South Pole always has the right mix of carbon credits available to meet the demands of our clients. Job summary:
In this role, you will be supporting the European Projects team by researching and analyzing the potential for emission reduction projects to be developed on the Voluntary Carbon Market or under the Swiss Compliance Scheme. You will support South Pole at the different stages of project development including analyzing the potential of projects and leads, supporting the development and management of feasibility studies, carbon projects and methodologies and supporting business development activities. If you are an enthusiastic and dynamic person with relevant academic background and are passionate to contribute to the fight against climate change, then we are looking for you. At the end of the internship we aim at offering you a permanent position in the European Projects team.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide support in assessments and review of incoming leads for emission reduction and removals projects. Project topics include but are not limited to plastic and metal recycling, wastewater treatment, soil organic carbon, biochar, precision agriculture, feed additives, manure management, landfill gas, biogas, timber construction, electrification of transport, carbon capture use and storage andenergye ciency.
- Contribute to the feasibility and eligibility assessment of emission reduction and removals projects for their certification and registration with one or several international carbon standards (VCS, Gold Standard etc.). This may include the analysis of risks and opportunities for project implementers in engaging in the voluntary carbon market.
- Support the development and preparation of such projects for certification and registration with international carbon standards (VCS, Gold Standard etc.) or with the Swiss Federal O ceforthe Environment
- Support the implementation and management of the se emission reduction and removals projects in Europe, including drafting project design documents, applying emissions reductions/removals quantification approach, managing comments from validation bodies, supporting implementation of monitoring plan and verification of emissions reductions/removals.
- Support business development activities, including the development of proposals for new clients and managing business relationships with project partners, cooperatives and auditors.
- Assist with market research on emerging new topics in the sustainability sector and provide support with project sourcing.

Profile requirements
- Undergraduate,Bachelor or a Master degree in Science,Engineering or a sustainability-related discipline
- Excellent analytical competency
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment with a can-do attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Passionate to contribute to the fight against climate change
- Proficient in English and German or French is a must
- Previous internships,experience with project management,clients communication and project finance are an advantage.
