Symbios is a Swiss medical technology company, and the leader in custom-made orthopedic implants for hip and knee. Since its creation, and thanks to its 30 years of experience, Symbios has pioneered and constantly improved custom implant manufacturing technology, becoming the company with the greatest expertise in this field worldwide. The company employs 260 people across Europe, including over 200 at its headquarters in Yverdon-les-Bains.

To prepare for the upcoming move of our current GM Switzerland/Austria to the position of VP Sales EMEA, we are looking to hire a key position leadingour Switzerland and Austria Sales team:

General Manager, Switzerland/Austria

Reporting to the VP Sales EMEA of Symbios, this role will be directly leading the Switzerland and Austria Sales team, and should ideally be based in the Swiss-German region.

Key responsibilities :

  1. Develop and sustain a high-performance sales culture and organization that will enable Symbios to accelerate its development in the Swiss and Austrian orthopedic markets.
  2. Manage customer requests and sales support, including clinical support to customers, technical training for the proper use of Symbios products, and optimal inventory management to meet demand.
  3. Manage the direct and/or indirect sales network in Switzerland and Austria, including setting sales targets, monitoring and providing regular support to sales staff to help them achieve their objectives.
  4. Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies, and tactics to increase market share in existing customer accounts and markets, while developing new customers in Switzerland and Austria.
  5. Ensure sales training to guarantee the quality of advice and support to customers to enable them to make optimal use of Symbios products, as well as to achieve sales performance objectives.
  6. Adapt the Group's marketing strategy to the Swiss and Austrian orthopedic markets, and organize the implementation of local marketing actions and resources (conventions, user meetings, scientific events and symposia, visiting centers, medical education, etc.) enabling the subsidiary to achieve its sales targets.
  7. Be a role model and advocate of Symbios' corporate culture, core values and value proposition in the defined territory.
  8. Ensure nominal collection of open invoices from customers in the defined territory, and facilitate communication with customers.
  9. Ensure high employee engagement within the Swiss and Austrian sales team, manage and evaluate direct and indirect reports, while ensuring efficient talent acquisition and retention.
  10. Ensure reporting of the Switzerland and Austrian activities to Symbios Group Management, particularly with regard to financial, sales and marketing results, customer feedback, the competitive situation (strategy, prices, actions), orthopedic market trends, and the status of the subsidiary's staff.
  11. Ensure the financial management and responsibility of the countries in line with the budgetary objectives set with Symbios Group Management (management of P&L and in particular the subsidiary's operating expenses).

Profile we are looking for:

  • Master’s degree in a technical field or in sales & marketing. MBA is a plus.
  • 10 to 15 years of successful experience in a Sales and Marketing leader position in the orthopedic market, more specifically in the knee/hip joint replacement segment, within the Switzerland market.
  • Strong people manager skills with proven capability to empower, motivate and develop others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership presence, while being able to influence and get results at all levels in the organization as well as with customers.
  • Languages: Native Swiss-German or German, and fluent in French and English. Italian is a plus.
