Financial Accountant

Job Title – Financial Accountant 60-100%

Initial Six months contract – possibilities for extension

The Company

SSB Sauerwein & Schaefer Bau AG is an international engineering and construction development company in the fields of infrastructure and energy. It is a family-owned business dating back to 1912 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland since 2018. SSB has aspirations to grow as an international developer, investor, and contractor for projects in strategically selected high-growth infrastructure markets.

The Opportunity

Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Zurich, Hybrid

SSB AG is currently delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction services for a 580km High-Speed Railway worth over €2bn in Europe. The company is also engaged in the development of several large-scale infrastructure projects across the globe. To complement the team, we are looking for a determined and dynamic Financial Accountant to join us and to support the Finance Manager at our headquarters in Zurich with immediate effect or by appointment.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Management of financial accounting as well as accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Recording invoices and bank payments
  • Reconciliation of invoices, accounts, debtors and creditors
  • Review expense and credit card reports
  • Supporting/Preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements according to OR and IFRS
  • Supporting external audit procedures
  • Preparation of the periodic VAT statements (CH)
  • Improve and implement accounting, financial control processes and systems
  • Supporting with project work
  • Supporting and instructing subsidiaries abroad
  • Supporting accounting duties for SSB companies in Zurich, Vienna and Italy
  • General administrative work

Skills / Qualifications

  • Basic commercial training followed by a federal certificate in finance and accounting
  • 3 - 5 years of proven work experience in accounting
  • Experience with OR is required in addition experience in IFRS would be beneficial
  • Construction, Infrastructure, background would be preferred but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of Oracle Netsuite accounting software is beneficial
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
  • Fluency in English and German is a must
  • Excellent analytical skills, detail-oriented and proactive
  • Very independent and reliable way of working
  • Team player, flexible and dedicated
  • Comfortable in an international multicultural environment
  • High motivation and strong communication skills
  • Self starter and have a pro-active approach to working
  • High tolerance to pressure and meeting deadlines
