Locally employed caretaker

The Permanent mission of Norway in Geneva currently has a permanent staff of 30 people, including an ambassador to the UN and other international organizations and an ambassador to the WTO and EFTA. The delegation has offices in the Petit-Saconnex district of Geneva.

We are looking for a locally employed caretaker in a temporary position with responsibility for practical, hands-on work across the full range of the delegations' activities. ?

The position is a 60% position. Start date is January 1, 2025.

General description of the position

We are looking for a committed and operational caretaker who can assist with the everyday running of technical installations and maintenance of the delegation's office premises, two ambassador residences and just under 20 official residences. In cooperation with the right candidate, we will set up variable working hours with up to three working days per week.

Work tasks

• Simple electrician work
• Maintenance work such as painting, simple woodwork and plumbing, gardening
• Moving and carrying inventory and shipments
• Contact and follow-up of craftsmen when hired help is needed
• Incidental work related to the operation and maintenance of all buildings and technical installations where the delegation are responsible
• Dialogue and follow up with landlords or management/”regie” in maintenance matters

Qualifications

• Certified to work in the power grid to be able to make simple electrical repairs and installations such as sockets, assembly and disassembly of lamps and light in the office, residences and houses.
• Good health and ability to handle manual labor
• Must have a driving license for car
• Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing in French and English.
• Must be able to work on a PC

Salary considered based on qualifications and experience. Applicant must have a work permit and pay taxes to Switzerland.
