Veterinary Surgeon (Diplomate of ACVS, ECVS or equivalent) / Senior Researcher (PhD or equivalent)
The MSRU offers a position for a veterinary surgeon/senior researcher with opportunities for personal and academic development in an enthusiastic and open-minded team. The MSRU provides expertise in musculoskeletal (bone & cartilage, tendon, spine, intervertebral disc), soft tissue (wound healing), and cardiovascular research. The group facilities are GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) accredited by the Swiss regulatory agency, Swissmedic, which has greatly facilitated clinical translation and registration processes for medical devices and biologics. The MSRU also provides state-of-the-art and GLP-accredited histological processing and analysis. Our group consists of 3 senior directors (two veterinarians and one bioengineer), technical and administrative staff, graduate students, and animal caretakers. Depending on the number of ongoing projects, we are a group of 16-20 people. You can expect a collegial team in a dynamic environment. Compensation is in accordance with university guidelines.
Your responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced veterinarian surgeon and senior researcher with a strong interest and experience in translational research from "bench to bedside" with a strong focus on musculoskeletal research, soft tissue surgery, as well as application of biomaterials for tissue regeneration. The candidate will be expected to participate in and lead research projects as a study director, including surgery and the development of animal models appropriate to the original research question. The candidate shall participate in different teaching activities, including mentoring and supervising doctoral candidates, and support the organization of seminars and symposia. She/he will also be expected to prepare, deliver, and assist in the submission of project proposals, grant proposals, (GLP-)reports, and publications and represent the unit at external conferences and meetings as appropriate.
Your profile
We expect the candidate to have completed your training as a veterinary surgeon (e.g. ECVS/ACVS accredited or equivalent) and, preferably a PhD or equivalent experience showcasing your research portfolio. German language skills are helpful but not necessarily required. However, candidates should be willing to learn German within a reasonable time in order to communicate with our non-academic personnel. The candidate should be motivated, innovative, and interested in developing your own research area within the scope of the MSRU. The candidate should be a team player, flexible, and curious to promote and supervise young doctorate and PhD students.
