The opportunity
Within the Diagnostic division capital investment engineering function, the Global Expert HVAC is globally responsible for the expertise area “heating, ventilation and air-conditioning”. In close cooperation with experts within the Diagnostic Engineering Function (DEF) as well as other experts within and outside the organization, you will lead this area of expertise for capital project engineering for the division and you will also be responsible for developing this area of expertise within the DEF.
In addition, you will be leading the respective Global Expert Panel which is responsible for developing and nurturing know-how in this area as well as ensuring innovative, state-of-the-art solutions are considered in all relevant projects globally.
In this role, you will be reporting to the Global Head of Engineering and Projects. You will lead the Global Expert Panel (GEP) and be a member of the Global Engineering Community.
Your main responsibilities:
Ensure Capital Engineering Project quality through an efficient and effective project review process
Take ownership, ensure the adoption of continuous improvement in this area of expertise across the Diagnostic engineering function
Provide support, advice, consultancy and leadership in this field
Lead the respective GEP and help ensure that expertise and resources are provided as required across the division (for the DEF) as well to drive standardization and leverage synergies
Stay abreast of future trends, new developments that may be relevant or impact the company and support continuous improvement and the implementation of new technologies. This may also include leading and/or participating in global cross-functional or cross-chapter projects or initiatives
Help develop, manage and nurture talent and capability in this field including training, education and assignments across the division
Organize collaboration with external academic partners
Represent the Diagnostics Division with respect to HVAC
Contribute to achieving divisional and group sustainability including optimizing energy consumption
Who you are
You have a profound passion for engineering & capital projects and methodologies and you represent the Roche values passion, courage and integrity.
You have a University-level education (BSc, equivalent or higher) in a scientific or technical field. You bring 10+ years of experience in major capital investment projects, ideally both on the owner and the contractor side. Preferably, you have worked in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, food, construction or (petro-) chemical industries. You bring sub-project management responsibility for HVAC in at least one major (>CHF50m) capital investment project. You have international experience across multiple companies and cultures.

Some international travel may be required.
