We are looking to recruit a self-motivated IT Support Specialist Proteomics to join our team at the Proteomics Core Facility (PCF). The PCF provides state-of-the art proteomic methodologies to support life science research at the Biozentrum and other Basel University institutes. It is tightly integrated in an internationally leading scientific surrounding and contributes to multiple interdisciplinary projects. The position offers a challenging opportunity at a key intersection of rapidly moving areas of research.

The successful applicant's main responsibilities will be to develop, implement, maintain and document proteomics software, data analysis pipelines and informatics infrastructure to enable an automated, standardized data management, analysis, visualization and reporting of the quantitative mass spectrometric data which is generated by the various workflows offered by the PCF. These include global (DIA/SWATH, TMT) and targeted (PRM) mass spectrometric analysis of proteins, modifications, protein/drug interactions and structural constraints. The role further acts as a link of the PCF to the different IT service providers of the University (sciCORE, Research IT and IT Services).

Applicants should have a degree in a life science or computational discipline. Excellent skills in R based programming, code documentation and versioning, good understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and command-line interface as well as prior experience with the analysis of quantitative biological datasets are essential. Experience in the statistical analysis of proteomics data would be advantageous, but is not required. The applicant should embrace a continuous learning mindset and apply scientific rigor following the FAIR principles. In addition, the role requires excellent communication and organization skills, the ability to work well in a team and an advanced knowledge of written and spoken English.

The position offers a challenging opportunity to join a growing and rapidly evolving bioanalytical field and to join a team of highly motivated scientists. The position is initially for 2 years, with the possibility of further extension for 4 years after positive evaluation. Salary and benefits according to University of Basel standards.
