Prof. Macarena Marín is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to join her research group at the Department of Plant Molecular Biology (DBMV) at the University of Lausanne.

Project description 

Legumes establish symbiotic interactions with nitrogen-fixing bacteria, decreasing their dependency on costly and environmentally hazardous synthetic nitrogen fertilizers. Legume plants host rhizobia inside cells of specialized root organs called nodules. In our team, we aim to elucidate the genetic and cell biological adaptations required to accommodate high densities of bacteria inside these organs. We are searching for a new team member passionate about organismic interactions and with a strong background in root nodule symbiosis and cell wall biology.

This position is mostly research oriented. It is also associated to teaching duties of under graduate and graduate biology students .

Expected start date in position : 01.12.2024 / to be agreed

Contract length : 1 year

Activity rate : 100%

Workplace : Lausanne-Dorigny

PhD degree or equivalent, a background in plant molecular biology, and experience with root nodule symbiosis is of advantage.
