Organization

As the Head of Supply Chain Management you lead and evolve your team including purchasing, warehouse and logistics specialists. Your key task is to assure that corporate production and shipping supply chain requirements are met, both in terms of quality and quantity, while balancing the stock volume with associated costs.

In this role you also closely collaborate with production and work preparation coordinators for short-term supply needs, and with product management and technical sales to further refine forecasting models. You also maintain strong business relations with key suppliers.

The Head of Supply Chain Management reports to the COO for Production.

Responsibilities

Planning

  • Determine required materials needed to cover production demand, understand current internal and external supply chain and warehouse management challenges, continuously track resources, and assure on-time availability of components to meet production demands and lead time goals.
  • Plan and execute activities to continuously evolve effectivity and efficiency, such as by further refining purchasing forecasts, automating stock counts, or expediting the time required for creating purchase orders

Team Management

  • Write job descriptions, perform job interviews, and hire new team members
  • Supervise and lead purchasing and warehouse teams, including assigning tasks and responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, training and support to team members
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback

Quality Control

  • Implement and enforce quality control standards and procedures
  • Address and resolve suppliers quality issues or defects promptly
  • Ensure that production received the required products in the required quality and quantity on time

Compliance

  • Track and assure supply-chain compliance with global and corporate materials sourcing and production standards such as RoHS or REACH and labor rights, and implement environmental sustainability practices.
  • Assure supply chain compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, IO27001 and TISAX management system requirements

Supply Chain Management

  • Assure that suppliers meet quality, quantity, lead time and compliance requirements, by implementing and tracking suitable quality metrics, and by escalating situations as needed.
  • Assure timely availability of components for production, and manage incoming and outgoing packaging and shipment logistics
  • Understand potential supply-chain risks, and implement risk-reduction and mitigation strategies in close collaboration with production, product and corporate management, and suppliers
  • Negotiate framework contracts to improve lead times and pricing
  • Review and approval of larger purchases

Warehouse Management

  • Monitor inventory levels to assure sufficient and timely production supply at an appropriate inventory level
  • Leverage and further evolve inventory management technologies and elaborated forecasting models

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evolve procurement and warehouse processes compliant with relevant Speedgoat management systems
  • Create and maintain complementary guidelines and instructions
  • Monitor key performance indicators, and initiate corrective action

Communication

  • Communicate corporate supply chain and warehouse management requirements and challenges to the team, and jointly work out suitable objectives and task assignments
  • Collaborate with other departments such as product management, technical sales and key suppliers to ensure alignment

Job Requirements

  • At least five years of management experience in purchasing, procurement and warehouse management, preferably at a high-tech engineering and manufacturing company
  • A strong track record in managing and further evolving supply chain and warehouse management teams, processes and tools
  • Strong analytical skills to understand business needs and risks, and to implement required measure in close collaboration with corporate teams and suppliers
  • University education in business administration or similar
  • Proficiency in English, both in speaking and writing. German and/or French language skills are beneficial but not mandatory
  • Exceptional communication skills
