PhD Student Creep of zirconium based nuclear fuel claddings
- Perform thermomechanical and creep tests of zirconium alloy samples
- Understand and describe hydrogen diffusion and precipitation in the test material
- Use advanced characterization methods like scanning and transmission electron microscopy
- 3D visualization and analyses of the tested material, including using cutting-edge neutron imaging
- Cooperate with our partners from industry
- Publish your results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
- Master’s degree in mechanical science, materials science, chemistry or nuclear engineering
- Good and solid knowledge of materials, diffusion and thermomechanical behavior
- Proven problem-solving skills, creative and hands-on personality
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team
- Very good communication skills and good knowledge of English, knowledge of German is an advantage
- You are prepared to support work in a hot laboratory and to take shifts of beam campaigns
