ROLE DESCRIPTION
• The Scheduling Manager (as part of the crewing team) is responsible to ensure all Viking Ocean and Expedition ships have the correct number and mix of crew members to successfully operate. This is achieved by assigning active resources to rotation and planning software (MXP) with a long-term view.
• This role is based in our Operational Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintaining a healthy rotation of crew members in your assigned department/vessel
• Considering crew requests and actioning where possible
• Ensuring all joining crew have the necessary documentation to board a vessel with liaison to the specified manning agents
• Liaising with the recruitment team to identify future hiring needs
• Maintaining the department change and promotion pool to ensure the right people are scheduled for the right roles and we continue to grow our organization into senior roles from within
• Maintain business relationships with a trusted network of high-quality recruiting agencies in all relevant markets with best interest to support our existing crew population
• Regularly updating crew scheduling requirements based on operational needs and following HR policy
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Administrative background in scheduling mass rotations, preferably in the cruise industry
• Knowledge/experience as Crew Purser (shipboard) or Crewing Manager (shore side)
• Working knowledge of typical shipboard terminology as it results to positions and department make up
• Current working knowledge of worldwide visa requirements as it relates to restricted nationalities and seafarers
• A working knowledge of MLC2006 as it relates to the movement and placement of seafarers, including certification requirements
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Fluency in English
• Excellent computer knowledge (MS Office, Marine Exchange (MXP), PowerBI). Ability to Use V-Lookup and automate spreadsheet data in Excel would be an advantage
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, service-oriented and guest focused
EDUCATION
• Education in HR, Administration or equivalent experience is a plus
