Job Description

You will join the IT Department’s Systems & Storage team, whose role is to provide reliable compute and storage solutions for the bank. This includes on-prem and public cloud infrastructure, as well as optimized bare-metal and virtualized stacks.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in *nix systems, optimization skillsets and ability of integrating open-source solutions within a corporate environment. Your expertise will help guide your team to improve their stack and work towards providing Infrastructure as a Service.

With your team, you will work closely with IT architects and Performance Analysts to plan and execute the department’s long term technical objective of providing hyperscalers-like cloud capabilities on-premises.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and secure Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to prevent downtime.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are designed to meet business needs.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture and processes.
• Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability, and meets our RTO/RPO’s objectives.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for Linux-related issues.
• Automate system administration tasks using frameworks such as Ansible or Terraform.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role.
• Proven experience in managing complex IT environments and contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience in alternate industries such as telco, manufacturing, aviation or pharmaceutics.
• Strong understanding of server infrastructure, cloud computing, SAN, NAS, and DAS, storage and distributed storage architecture.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working with multi-functional technical and business teams, along with different levels of management to influence decision making.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (puppet, ansible, terraform, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LXC, KVM, VMWare, proxmox, containerd, podman.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Rust, .Net, C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Go.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes Infrastructure management (Juju/MaaS/CDK, openshift, foreman).
• Linux certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification), or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of network architecture and cybersecurity. Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP and other network protocols.
• Experience with ITIL processes and frameworks.
