Why this role is important to us
Alpha Data Services (ADS) teams are responsible for definition of data sourcing, data quality and data distribution rules on the Alpha Platform. This includes sourcing, mapping and maintenance of Security Master, Indices/Benchmarks, Analytics, Account Master, Prices, Issuer/Ultimate Issuer, Ratings, Classifications, Market data and other data. In addition, ADS service provides for ingestion of Client-directed data, custom validations and client specified classifications and hierarchies.
Datasets in the Alpha Platform must be accurate, complete and timely to inform our clients’ investment, financial, and regulatory decisions.
The Data Analyst/ SQL Developer will interact with clients and internal State Street parties to identify the best data validation solutions for the client. The role involves supporting multiple client relationships and client deliverables globally and staying on top of changes to the underlying data warehouse tables and marts.
What you will be responsible for
• Gather data validation requirements and acceptance criteria from business Subject Matter Experts via Jira or RTC tool
• Partner with Product Development teams to understand data model(s) and develop SQL based validation logic that will be performed on inbound and outbound data flows
• Develop, document and unit test logic for the data validations
• Partner with business testers to confirm validations are producing expected values
• Work independently and collaboratively with technology teams to identify issues, perform root-cause analysis for erroring validations
• Contribute to data validation and system enhancement testing efforts
• Escalate data and technical related issues to proper teams and track until complete resolution
• Ensure all activities are compliant with corporate standards
• Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external parties
• Adhere to internal procedures and best practices at all times
Required Experience
• Degree in computer science, finance, accounting, business, or technology and relevant industry experience
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong Technical skills in data management including SQL
• Database Management and ETL development experience
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/ Azure)
• Strong communication skills
• Self-motivated and adaptable and show initiative and a strong sense of task ownership
• Flexibility and willingness to learn and work on new areas of expertise
• Asset management experience, including investment operation "
