Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a newly built function that aims to encompass several business partner functions for pRED including strategy & portfolio, program & project management excellence, clinical operations, sites and laboratory management, capability development and external operations. SPO is set up leveraging a hub and spoke design with a clear mandate for core capabilities that are mirrored by the respective spokes in disease therapeutic areas and functions across pRED. SPO’s mission is to deliver excellence in operations, ensure patient centricity and enable high-quality decision-making. As a trusted partner across pRED, SPO contributes to pRED’s research and development excellence.
This position is located in the Program and Project Management Excellence (PPME) Chapter which enables the development of molecules from entry into portfolio to the end of the pivotal-enabling study. We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual and independent collaborator with a growth mindset.
As a member of PPME, you are a crucial strategic partner, assisting pRED molecule project teams and governance bodies in making the best decisions. You provide insights across the portfolio to architect and catalyze actions that maximize R&D productivity.
As a Research Program Manager, you are a key member of multiple discovery project teams and work closely with the Research Project Leaders. You apply your project management, operational and strategic expertise to actively contribute to the development of a project vision & strategy, collaborating with the project team to effectively and efficiently achieve the strategic objectives.
You provide strategic mentorship to project teams by framing and assessing options, and identifying critical factors for decision-making and governance. You act as a thought partner for key members of pRED and project team members to contribute to and challenge the project strategy.
You guide molecule teams, in collaboration with PPMs, from drug discovery through clinical development preparation, ensuring efficient progression. You ensure clear development and translation of molecule strategy to coordinated execution plans across project sub-teams.
You keep teams on track to deliver short-, mid-, and long-term activities to achieve objectives. You provide portfolio context and data-driven insights to senior leaders for planning.
You ensure excellent portfolio management by contextualizing individual decisions within the broader pipeline. You build and maintain highly functioning project teams by observing dynamics, building rapport, addressing issues, and encouraging open dialogues.
You drive key program/project meetings, workshops, team communication, and documentation. You maintain program and project management guidelines, standards, and tools.
You lead and support strategic chapter/SPO/pRED workstreams. You foster a teaching, coaching, and learning culture within the PPME chapter, embodying leadership principles such as VACC.
You ideally have a background that combines science, strategy and business and graduated in life sciences
You have a minimum of 5 years of Program/Project Management experience supporting cross-functional teams in a scientific environment
You are proficient in Program and Project management methodologies and agile practices
You can translate strategy into action, effectively influence and communicate, challenge assumptions, and build strong cross-functional relationships
You are fluent in English, written and spoken
