R&D Project Manager

ID Quantique (IDQ) is the world leader in quantum technologies with applications in the field of photons detection and networks security. IDQ is organized in two business units. In its Quantum-Safe business unit, IDQ develops and commercializes cryptographic solutions, designed to protect data for the long-term future against threats such as quantum computing. The company provides quantum-safe network encryption, secure quantum key generation and quantum key distribution solutions, as related services to the financial industry, enterprises and government organizations globally. In its Quantum Detection Systems business unit, the company develops and commercializes optical instrumentation products.

As the world leader in quantum technologies, IDQ is a fast-growing company, creating new activities in new markets, worldwide. IDQ is looking for a Project Manager as part of its R&D department to drive technical projects from definition to full delivery, in particular projects linked to Photon Detection Products and components.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

• Drive and manage key engineering projects across departments using adequate project management methodology (Agile and/or Waterfall)
• Lead the presales/definition phase by establishing a clear baseline of requirements and a pre-approved acceptance plan
• Develop a Project Management plan, strategy and training program in-line with the best practices, methodologies and resource development.
• Ensure proper execution by monitoring the progress according to the approved plans
• Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing/Industrialization teams and collaborate with various stakeholders to streamline communication and establish a clear sense of ownership
• Strive to deliver projects on spec, cost and quality
• Suggest and deploy, companywide, project management best practices and methodologies.
• Define, deploy and control project management tools for schedule, budget and risk management and reporting.
• Support all IDQ departments in their operational needs and challenges based on a continuous improvement philosophy to drive operational excellence company wide.

Desired Profile:

• A good to strong technical background with an Engineering degree in Physics, Electronics, computer science or similar.
• Experience in optical/photonic products or components, and nanofabrication/chip encapsulation/integrated circuits a plus
• A proven experience of project management/delivery of 3-5 years in a relevant industry
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a dynamic technical environment.
• A proven track record for success in a leadership role demonstrating a capacity to manage, motivate and communicate effectively.
• Experience with industrial processes and manufacturing a plus.
• Very good English, oral and written, a must.
