PhD position in medical image analysis for digital twinning in stroke research

Starting date: 01.09.2024

• Develop digital twin models for patients with cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke or intracranial aneurysms.
• Apply cutting edge deep learning image processing techniques to quantify anatomical variability in patient cohorts, thereby enhancing predictive models for the cerebrovascular system.
• Process and analyse clinical and medical imaging data from hospitals, include research tools and physical simulations from collaborators.
• Conduct a translational research project, contributing to personalized medicine and digital twins in healthcare, by developing reliable tools for clinicians, bridging research and practice.
• Be an active contributor to the EU project GEMINI, which aims to bring digital twins to the bedside
• Perform research under the guidance from both ZHAW and University of Zurich
• Publish results and attend international conferences.
• Support with teaching activities (to a reasonable extent)
• MSc in computer science, (biomedical) engineering, mathematics, physics, (bio-) medicine or a related subject
• Passion to employ medical data research to the benefit of the patient
• Collaborative mindset to work in an interdisciplinary and diverse environment
• High level of dedication, responsibility and ethical values
• Knowledge of programming languages such as e.g., Python, Julia, R or other programming languages
• Research experience and/or achievements are advantageous but not mandatory
