Mechanical Design Engineer - Stress - AMAC Aerospace
Job Description
Position and Responsibilities
- Perform static and dynamic analyses as well as fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for cabin completion and modification projects
- Support the Team Leader Mechanical Design Engineering to develop working methods to ensure an efficient work flow
- Ensure correct consideration and application of Certification Basis, Rules and Regulations, Means of Compliance and Interpretations
- Ensure adequate communication and liaison internally, especially with the Engineering Team as well as with external Third Parties
Key Aspects of the Activity
- Static, dynamic and fatigue calculations of different installations (e.g. interior monuments, antennae installation, additional water tank, etc.) in airplanes with different methods (e.g. Finite-Element-Analysis and hand calculations).
- Review and approval of drawings and designs for stress aspects
- Work out of repairs and modifications in regard of stress
- Consulting with the mechanical design engineering to achieve light and cost saving structure solutions
- Development of technical as well as safety and certification relevant documentation such like reports, analysis, assessments
- Establishment of FEM models and Structural Substantiation Reports
- Development and procurement of material testing
- Development of engineering standards
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or relevant field
- Profound knowledge of fundamental physics, technical mechanics, thermodynamics, aerospace technology and materials
- Minimum 5 years structural substantiation experience
- Proactive behaviour with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – additionally French and/or German is advantageous
- Experienced FEM user (Femap). Experience with CAD software (AutoCad, CATIA, Solidworks). Proficient in MS Office. VBA programming skills are advantageous.
- Ability to work independently
- Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety
- Ideally aerospace engineering background, alternatively automotive / transportation experience
