2 Role: Backend Engineer Python for Workflow Management
Description of Team and department:
The team is closely associated with Biomedical Research within Novartis. They support scientists with solutions to identify hits in large libraries of samples from testing in cellular assays or with help of DNA-encoded library technologies at any scale.
Their focus is on software solutions for streamlining scientific processes and workflows thinking start to end, which includes capturing and processing raw data, metadata and derived data generated by instruments during screening or obtained from intermediate analyses. They aim at applying and leveraging leading edge architecture and software technologies. Their goal is to combine use-case specific applications with optimized technical backend platforms to eventually compose final solutions for scientists to accelerate drug discovery.
General Role description:
Focus on backend implementation and integrate with other components provided by teammates. This requires a certain level of curiosity and high-level understanding where your work fits into the bigger picture of the solution, requiring a very collaborative spirit.
Required expertise for role 1
- Python core backend with Numpy and Pandas are required, Dask highly desired.
- ORM such as SQLAlchemy for system integration
Required expertise for role 2
- Python with a focus on workflow management systems and DAG development (Apache Airflow), concurrent tasks management at scale
- Longer term this role is expected to work with the AWS stack, especially non-SQL high performance stores, hence a general understanding of KV-stores, wide-column stores or graphs is therefore very beneficial
