Financial Controller - We are actively looking for a Financial Controller to join our client, a fast-developing Swiss industrial company based in Fribourg canton.

The ideal candidate should have min 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller and speak German at least at B2 level on top of being fluent in English. French will be beneficial.

Your role:

As a Senior Financial Controller, your role will be to coordinate the integration of a newly acquired company with 3 main offices in Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. Some travel will be required up to max 25% . As standard it is possible to work remotely 1 days per week.

This is not a manager’s role, but 3 acountants will report to you and you will report directly to the CFO.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Financial Accounting: Oversee financial accounting activities across all legal entities, including global intercompany accounting and consolidation during the month-end close.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Champion continuous productivity improvements and operational excellence, aligning with established benchmarks.
  • Support Integration Efforts: Collaborate closely with the Group CFO and Group Controller at the HQ to ensure smooth integration of new entities.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of three accountants, fostering a positive work environment and promoting cross-training and professional growth.
  • Monthly Closing Oversight: Supervise the monthly closing process for three newly acquired companies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Post-Due Diligence Support: Provide critical support during the post-due diligence phase by reviewing current financial statements and valuation methods, including inventory.
  • Financial Reporting: Maintain and report on Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements, with a focus on cash availability and process optimization.
  • Strategic Financial Analysis: Compile, analyze, and report financial data to inform strategic decisions; perform variance analysis on Sales, Margin, Operational Costs, and Overhead, delivering insightful commentary on key drivers.
  • Audit & Compliance: Audit financial transactions and documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work proactively with other functional areas to ensure accurate financial reporting within deadlines, providing detailed feedback to the Group CFO and Group Controller on deviations and their causes.
  • Process Improvement: Lead ongoing process improvements throughout the month to enhance efficiency, address operational changes, and align with business needs.
  • Internal Controls: Ensure strict adherence to internal accounting policies and procedures, and timely execution of all assigned internal controls.

Your profile ( ideally )

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management.
  • Experience: min 5-10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or controlling roles, with a preference for candidates with a background in industrial companies and proven international exposure.
