Electronic HW Design Engineer

Speedgoat develops and sells complete software and hardware development platforms for real-time simulation and testing. Our customers are engineers and scientists developing next generation controls, DSP and vision technologies such as for autonomous cars, electric aircrafts, robots, smart grids, power plants, smartphones and augmented reality technologies. Our solutions allow them to continuously verify and validate their designs along a complete Model-Based Design workflow using MATLAB® and Simulink®, including virtual and real physical testing.

Organization 

You are a member of the “HIL Systems” department, engaged in customer specific solutions for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing of electronic control units. HIL Systems is a vertically integrated department with 4 teams for project management, HW design, HIL assembling & integration, and HIL testing. These teams work along a complete customer journey starting from gathering requirements, system engineering, assembling and integration to testing of the final HIL system. In the position of HW Design Engineer, you closely collaborate with all HIL Systems teams, as well as other departments and customers.

Core responsibilities

In this position, you mainly innovate and design new signal conditioning modules for our Modular Signal Conditioning Platform MSCP and support improving the platform. The configurable signal conditioning modules typically involve level shifters, amplifiers, optical transceivers, current measurements, and digital transceivers for a wide range of voltages, power, and bandwidth. Most modules are configurable via Simulink and include microcontrollers, FPGAs, and ASICs for communication and programming.

You are an expert in at least one of the following areas: analog front-end, RF, power electronics or high-speed designs. Additionally, you monitor and review implementation specifications and hardware designs of peers.

Job requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical and electronic engineering, or similar
• Five or more years of experience with analog and digital electronic circuit design
• Strong experience with electronic circuit simulation and design tools (preferably Altium Designer)
• Expert knowledge in at least one of the following fields: analog front-end, RF, power electronics or high-speed designs
• Experience in embedded software engineering using FPGA or MCUs is a plus
• Practical experience in dealing with measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes and waveform generators, combined with good prototyping skills
• Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the context of PCB designs, housings, and cables for commercial products.
