Global Capital Investment & Real Estate (CIRE) is responsible for providing an efficient, effective and sustainable working environment for over 35,000 employees of Roche Diagnostics globally. This is done in a multitude of ways, from designing best in class office and laboratory layouts, to constructing sustainable and fit for purpose manufacturing facilities, controlling and approval of capital expenditure across the division to manage real estate transactions in 104 countries around the world.
CIRE is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its team as Laboratory Workplace & Sustainability Coordinator. This role is pivotal in driving and ensuring continuous improvement efforts within the laboratory workplaces in the Diagnostics Division across environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability.
Laboratories are critical to enable innovation and release our products to the market. We place great emphasis on safety, functionality, and wellbeing. On the other hand, laboratories are very cost- and resource intensive, hence it is paramount to enhance green lab operations and to ensure facilities are right sized and well utilized.
This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of Laboratory Workplace Strategy, while working within a global team in an international environment.

The perfect candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific or environmental sustainability field and has 1-3 years of experience in strategic or operational facilities management, laboratory planning/design, or environmental sustainability. They have worked in a laboratory setting as a scientist or lab technician and are eager to use this experience to transform the laboratory workplace, preferably in a regulated environment. The candidate is skilled in data analytics, proficient in MS Office and Google Suite, speaks fluent English and good German.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Perform demand analysis for new laboratory space demands in the Divisional portfolio in accordance with our process, and incorporate process improvements to the process
• Support ongoing pilots of the digital transformation of the laboratory workplace, such as real-time lab utilization measurement, lab assets tracking.
• Support the divisional FP-Score performance measurement and improvement initiative, liaising with internal stakeholders to identify and communicate opportunities and initiatives that lead to improvement, focusing on the Roche Diagnostics Laboratory Real Estate
• Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with internal stakeholders as a basis for effectively monitoring the performance of Diagnostics' global real estate and facility management initiatives and deriving areas for action, focusing on Roche Diagnostics Laboratory Real Estate
• Support the facilitation of the One Roche Laboratory Workplace Community to foster engagement and exchange of best practice across both Divisions, Pharma and Diagnostics
• Prepare concise presentations for internal/external communication and prepare and execute key leadership events;
Key responsibilities Environmental Sustainability in the Lab:
• Coordinate sustainable lab initiatives geared at improving sustainability performance of our lab operations and achieve sustainability-related cost efficiencies. One of the most prominent initiatives at Roche is related to my green lab certification. The responsibility will include coordination of the certification process, stakeholder engagement, monitoring and reporting
progress and communication.
• Liaise with other environmental sustainability and sustainable science initiatives in the Roche Network to ensure sharing of best practice, increase awareness and optimize lab resource consumption through collaboration with departments such as SHE, Site Services, and Genentech.
• Conduct relevant qualitative and quantitative data analysis, leveraging in-house and external resources into high level presentations
• Propose solutions for process and product improvement opportunities

Must Haves:
• Bachelor's or Master degree in a Scientific or Environmental Sustainability field
• 1-3 years work experience in Strategic or operational Facilities Management, Laboratory Planning / Design, or Environmental Sustainability
• 1-3 years of working in a laboratory setting as scientist or lab technician and keen to leverage the experience and knowledge into transforming the laboratory workplace, preferable in a regulated environment
• Data Analytics experience is a big plus (reporting, analytics, visualization and data management)
• Proficiency in MS Office as well as Google Suite
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is a requirement, good German skills are required and any third language is an asset
• Self-motivated, pro-active and confident individual with an enthusiastic can do attitude who is committed to driving change
• Adaptable to change
• Teamwork orientation and effective task prioritization
• Experience in agile working environment is a plus
• Strategic thinker, able to recognize the big picture and identify the elements required to achieve the best possible outcome.
• Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional, often virtual and matrix teams
• Excellent communication skills: ability to transfer complex analysis, concepts and ideas into convincing and clear communications
• Strong influencing skills: can ensure the accomplishment of goals and targets through indirect leadership
• Exceptional openness and understanding for other cultures
