Competitive Intelligence Analyst I
Introduction to team
The Traveler Business Team has a mission to deliver the most convenient, rewarding, and memorable ways for people to travel and explore the world. This division has responsibility to build and drive the growth of our global consumer business across our Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and Portfolio brands, and across all our lines of businesses including Hotels, Vacation Rentals, Air, Car, Packages, and Insurtech.
This team works with cutting-edge tools and technology to deliver high-quality outputs whilst meeting ongoing and overlapping deadlines within short time constraints. This diverse, international function requires a curious, data-driven analytical thinker with a passionate drive for learning and improvement to join their rapidly-growing team as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst. You will use your ambition and appetite for finding insights in competitor's data to have a direct impact on many areas of the business, which will translate directly into increased competitiveness and revenue opportunities for Expedia.
In this role you will:
Create information flows to support business execution
Drive data collection, scheduling and quality control to build and enrich datasets of competitive insights
Develop systems and processes to monitor price and supply competitiveness through data sourced from external vendors
Design workflows and define tests to ensure internal stakeholders leverage accurate and relevant data in an efficient manner
Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data and analysis
Partner with internal group of customers to support them and understand their business needs
Establish trust and a collaborative working relationship
Provide a high level of daily customer service as the team's primary liaison to a large (across many countries) group of customers within Expedia's lodging organization
Partner with internal data teams to identify and resolve data integrity issues
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required in a numerical field (Business, Economics, Statistics or Computer Science)
Intermediate (or better) knowledge of SQL is required
Experience with a programming language (e.g. Python/R) is highly preferable
Ability to convert raw data into impactful reports and insights
Knowledge of data visualization tools preferred (Tableau, Power BI etc.)
Top-class eye for business, analytical rigor, combined with a problem solver mind-set and attention to detail
High level of intellectual curiosity and an appetite for identifying insights in competitor data
Excellent understanding of how to effectively visualize highly complex data.
