Automation Architect

You will be joining the IT Architecture Design team, whose role is to architect, design and assist IT teams on running large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. The team drives IT to achieve stakeholder-appropriate reliability, security and long-term maintainability for internal and external infrastructure.

As a part of this team you will work directly with automation engineers, administrators and managers to design and develop the IT departments automation processes. You will build strategies and present automation plans and guidance to leadership. The goal is to streamline automated systems to make them more effective and optimize the link between systems and the organization's workforce.

This role requires a deep understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code, automation platforms, cloud technologies and operational paradigms. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and extensive experience in automating a wide variety of tasks whether technical or administrative.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide domain expertise and technical leadership around process automation platforms and workflows.
  • Coordinate inventory and IT regulatory reporting automation.
  • Build a relationship with IT teams and directly engage with Engineers.
  • Promote automated processes and best practices.
  • Identify and quantify manual task load and design automation strategies to unlock staff potential and deliver services faster.
  • Assist Engineers and Architects in achieving department architectural objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field involving programming (e.g., physics, mathematics), or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in Systems, Network, Security, Software, or Operations.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Rust, .Net, C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Go.
  • A systematic approach to problem-solving, strong communication skills, and a sense of ownership and drive.

Ideally:

  • Understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, procedures, operational protocols and incident response.
  • Capacity to crystalize specifications out of abstract demands and projecting customer needs
  • Project management skills, with experience in leading automation projects from conception to completion.
  • Ability to deliver results, work cross-functionally, engage/influence audiences, and identify expansion engagements.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and work quickly with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the IT technology space.
