To achieve our goals, Roche pRED Ophthalmology is currently recruiting for Chief of Staff. The position is based in Basel, Switzerland
The Chief of Staff (CoS) for Ophthalmology is an exciting development opportunity for someone to contribute to Ophthalmology delivering its long-term objectives, and ultimately Roche achieving its 10 year ambitions. The Chief of Staff works very closely with the Head of Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmology Leadership Team (LT) as well as other senior pRED and Roche stakeholders.
The core responsibilities of this role include:
Define and set strategic Ophthalmology priorities in collaboration with the Global Head of Ophthalmology, prioritize key strategic outcomes for Ophthalmology and enable strategic implementation by setting and supporting business operations plans for the team
Key interaction partner for Ophthalmology, global functions and Roche stakeholders to help optimize interactions between stakeholders and enable seamless operations of key portfolio deliverables
Organize, design and run regular and ad hoc events and meetings focused on communication strategies, portfolio management and planning, and key KPIs
Catalyze the organization to implement strategic outcomes by coaching teams on rigorous pragmatism, action orientation, and diligent delivery
Build efficient project teams with feedback culture and psychological safety measures. Aid the team in conflict resolution and trust building by leading by example and encouragement of open dialogue.
Mobilize resources (incl senior leaders) as required
To be successful in this role you bring high energy, adaptability, collaborative mindset and the potential to succeed in a challenging environment. You are comfortable operating in a highly dynamic world and adjusting to changes of priorities and/or team dynamics. You are not afraid to challenge and to speak your mind to partner with the Global Head of Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmology LT, teams and key stakeholders for Ophthalmology to achieve its goals. You need to exhibit strong active listening skills to be able to connect the dots, and be willing to work on both strategic initiatives and operational tasks to ensure that CMI and other groups are effective and focused on achieving their priorities.
You will bring strong experience in Research and Development and work history with Pharma Research and Development Project teams. In addition, the key to deliver the focus areas of this role are as follows:
Previous experience in working with Research and development teams in a Pharma setting
Grasping quickly and deeply new ideas, concepts and the overall vision
Staying on top of all strategic initiatives important for Ophthalmology’s vision
Constant and rigorous prioritization of what is essential
Choosing project involvement/level of involvement based on where you can add the most value
Stepping back once teams are self-managed
