The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF is part of the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL and thus of the ETH Domain. Software Engineer Machine Learning 60-100% (f/m/d)
Are you interested in combining software development and machine learning for real-world applications? Join our team to support us in developing new software to test and enhance avalanche detection systems and to further develop the White Risk platform. Your primary tasks will include establishing a robust data processing workflow on an SLF server to monitor system health and data quality, and implementing existing machine learning models for near real-time avalanche detection. In addition, you will explore how machine learning methods can be used to improve the White Risk platform. Finally, you will plan and implement innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance system efficiency.
You have a background in software engineering and machine learning and practical experience. Ideally, you have strong problem-solving skills, can identify issues, develop comprehensive plans, and efficiently implement effective solutions. Proficiency in programming, machine learning, and data processing is essential. Good communication skills are required to collaborate effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds and to tailor information to varying levels of expertise. You are well organized, motivated to work in an interdisciplinary and international team and are keen to find solutions to practical problems.
