(R&D) In vitro Pharmacology Research Assistant

Job description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, interactive, and creative Research Assistant (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) with a strong interest in receptor pharmacology to join our drug discovery team in Geneva. This position will contribute to advancing preclinical drug development programs via the in vitro profiling of small therapeutic molecules (allosteric modulators) targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Your work will focus on determining the allosteric properties of compounds and support the identification of potential drug candidates to advance into development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. Previous experience in receptor pharmacology, proven organizational and communication skills are key for success in this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish and/or utilize in vitro cellular pharmacological assays to directly support drug discovery programs.
  • Work closely with the data management team to deploy and enhance data automation processes to compute allosteric characteristics of compounds.
  • Effectively communicate and present summaries of research results to team members or to a multidisciplinary team of researchers.

Required skills

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent), in Pharmacology, Molecular / Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or in a related field.
  • Demonstrated previous experience (1-2 years) in receptor pharmacology/cellular signalling, with proficiency in membrane- and cellular-based assays.
  • Cell culture expertise.
  • Excellent in vitro pharmacology knowledge base and familiarity with curve fitting guidelines and data reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a detail-oriented approach to the execution of experiments and record keeping is a requirement.
  • Proactive and flexible mindset and willingness to work in a small team environment.
  • High degree of independence, motivation, organization, and teamwork are critical.
  • Proficient English is preferred.
  • Computer skills: detailed knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Proficiency in GraphPad Prism, Dotmatics (or equivalent) is a bonus.
