Position Overview
The Senior Program Manager successfully delivers solutions to support the organization’s vision and strategic direction. This role manages and leads large, high risk, high visibility, and critical projects. These projects are often highly complex and impact many users. The senior program manager will act as a thought leader, providing alignment with other leaders and leveraging across functions support key initiatives. This position ensures successful integration and communication between multiple projects, related initiatives and works in partnership with leadership. This role will focus on solving problems to improve the organizations overall effectiveness. This is a hands-on role that requires close collaboration with all levels of Exact Sciences.
This position is Madison, WI based. It is a hybrid position with regular time onsite (3 days/week) and the other 2 days/week remotely from home.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead and coach multiple efforts and cross-functional teams to deliver projects successfully.
- Apply and coach to project management methodologies and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and senior leadership to develop strategies, goals, and projects to support the needs of the business.
- Develop and present status updates to multiple audiences (project teams to leadership) that effectively convey status, obstacles and solutions, opportunities.
- Facilitate defining success metrics for a given initiative (OKRs and KPIs); manage the tracking and reporting of those metrics; support the team in promoting their accomplishments.
- Maintain program metrics around initiative goals and communicate progress to key stakeholders.
- Drive positive organizational change management processes via planning, communications, and relationship management.
- Increase leadership impact and effectiveness through connectedness and commitment to pull through on programs, resources and initiatives.
- Effectively manage resource allocation and team workloads, ensuring assigned project deadlines are met in accordance with the larger portfolio.
- Make critical and difficult decisions based upon a combination of business goals, data analysis, experience, and judgement.
- Formulate, organize, and monitor inter-connected projects, including coordination of cross-project activities.
- Manage escalation process when critical risks arise and manage dependencies across projects accordingly to minimize impact to the key deliverables.
- Assess organizational impacts for projects or programs and develop the appropriate tactics to best fit each audience with the right level of communications, engagement, training, and support.
- Proactively identify and escalate organizational readiness and adoption risks for mitigation.
- Influence project team members or stakeholders to execute on both short-term actions as well as longer term development of approach, design, and infrastructure.
- Ability to effectively collaborate as a part of a team and operate independently across projects based on project complexity and needs.

- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
- Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.
- Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or relevant field as outlined in the essential duties, or 4+ years of experience in lieu of education.
- 10+ years of experience in increasing responsibility of scope and leadership including organizational effectiveness, project management or related field.
- 8+ years managing and leading large projects or teams.
- Extensive experience applying techniques and methods of modern project/program management – along with expertise with product management platforms and tools.
- Extensive experience engaging with product managers, engineers, designers, researchers, SMEs, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship where you can both learn and influence.
- Experience in relationship building, motivation, and curiosity to bring together different personalities for creative thinking and collaborative solutioning.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to influence multiple stakeholders and leaders without direct authority.
- Advanced problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to evolve operational models.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline.
- PMI Project Management.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification.
- Change management certification.
Salary Range:
$129,000.00 - $208,000.00The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis.
