As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Marine Claims business group within Aon Global Risk Solutions. As a Risk Consultant II (Marine Claims), you will report directly to the Marine Claims Director and be responsible for managing Cargo and Logistics claims, which may include STP, Cargo Legal Liability, Warehouse Legal Liability, and Contingent Auto Liability. Candidate location is flexible, remote working is an option.

What the day will look like
- Proactively anticipate action steps and documentation needs to maximize claim recoveries for our clients
- Assist surveyors with gathering information and documents necessary to resolve the claim. While this may seem mundane, unless a client advocate brings market experience and a keen understanding of the claims process, it can be easy to overlook key items that can have a significant impact on timely settlement of claims. We expedite this process.
- Build and maintain productive relationships and continuity with key carrier Senior Claims leadership and industry experts
- Assist with recoveries both below and above deductible and work with vendors/attorneys on large claims below deductible to maximize recovery
- Follow up with carriers, adjusters, surveyors and managers (as needed) regarding claim settlement/resolution
- Work with experts on captive claim management, as required
- Manage all aspects of pre-loss mitigation strategies and post-loss claim resolution by analyzing exposures, developing claim management protocols and implementing best practices to reduce the financial impact of loss events
- Provide claims support and advocacy with goal of obtaining desired settlement
- Ensure claim calculations/adjustments maximize available coverage
- Develop customized claim handling/reporting procedures for each client
- Develop productive business relationships with Aon local office teams
- Coordinate activities with other internal units as required to meet customer needs
- Present to local account executives, participate in RFPs, client meetings and conference calls
- Key member of the client facing team, acting as a trusted advisor to the client in claim handling, advocacy, and servicing accounts
- Frequently interacts with senior level colleagues and clients, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or clients and the company

A Differentiated Approach to Cargo Claim Resolution
Aon’s Marine Claims team consists of industry-leading negotiators across Cargo, Project Cargo, Hull & Machinery, Liability, P&I, and Logistics claims disciplines.
We have the experience and relationship to bridge the gap between underwriters and clients to ensure timely payment of claims that are paid in accordance with policy guidelines. We constantly adapt to a changing market, while delivering expanded, integrated and proactive claims service. We also partner with clients to:
- Provide industry expertise and claims advocacy through direct involvement and negotiations with carriers and vendors
- Leverage relationships with carriers, vendors, surveyors and industry experts on behalf of our clients – going above and beyond with creative problem solving
- Review vendor contracts and make recommendations to ensure liability limitations are maximized whenever possible (direct impact on recovery potential)
- Stay up-to-date regarding industry trends in order to avoid potential claim-related issues with carriers and vendors (ongoing staffing changes)
- Differentiate ourselves by creating innovative solutions to managing risk
- Leverage a unique and client-centric approach to claim preparation and asset valuation
Skills and experience that will lead to success:
- 10+ years experience with Marine Claims (Cargo & Logistics)
- Fluent in Microsoft Outlook and Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Understand fully the resources needed to manage complex Marine Cargo and Logistics claims within the scope of the Broker role, as well as from insurance carrier adjuster, underwriter, TPA’s and independent surveyor perspectives
- Possess a detailed understanding of applicable coverage, coverage triggers and risk financing options
- Able to establish claim reporting procedures and provide claim manuals tailored to each client’s priorities
- Possess a detailed understanding of various and necessary documentation needed to prove and support the value of client claims
- Ability to ensure claim calculations maximize applicable policy coverages
- Ability to adjust claims form a ground up perspective
- Provide overall consultation on policy coverage and vendor contracts
- Advocate on all incidents of claim declination, reservation of rights, and other coverage concerns
- Innovative self-starter and big-picture thinker with ability to focus on details
- Commercially-minded with a proven record of success in overcoming challenges while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment
- Flexible, creative problem-solving and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals of varied work styles and cultures
- Cultivate relationships with key contacts, including internal and external business partners
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent years of industry experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
