The Laboratory for Thin Films and Photovoltaics at Empa is internationally known for innovative research in the fields of thin-film solar cells, solid-state batteries, and light-emitting devices. Specifically, the Thin-Film Batteries group is developing solid-state micro-batteries that are fabricated by physical vapor deposition methods. The thin-film geometry provides a versatile platform for exploring new materials, studying interfacial phenomena and realizing new device designs such as multi-stacked batteries

- PhD degree in electrochemistry, physics, materials science or a similar field obtained within the last five years and preferably a postdoctoral experience
- Successful funding acquisition (personal fellowships, research grants, collaborative projects, etc.)
- Proven publication track record as well as presentations at international conferences
- Scientific creativity and high level of experimental skills for designing innovative experiments
- High social competence and ability to work and/or lead a team
- Knowledge of Proficient English spoken and written, German would be an advantage
