Due to company growth their Financial Intermediaries/Institutional Sales team will be increasing and adding an additional headcount for an Associate level Sales Support Business Development. Position:

As part of the Financial Intermediaries Institutional Team, we are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic sales person to join at Associate level. The business development associate position in Geneva is an integral part of the DACH sales team. You will work with the local Suisse-Romande team responsible for developing the company's financial intermediary and institutional sales business and will focus on activity designed to maximise sales opportunities with clients and prospects; specifically setting up meetings, often via cold calls, generating leads and working closely with the team on pre- and post meeting sales generation. You will work predominantly with the Swiss sales team in Geneva and Zurich, the Client Relations team and the Assistants.

The role is based in our Client's Geneva office. Occasionally you might be required to travel to Zurich and potentially to London, working closely with the teams based there.

The role reports into the Head of Financial Intermediaries Switzerland, Liechtenstein & Monaco who is based in Geneva.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

Target market

  • Financial Intermediaries such as Global Financial Institutions, Private Banks and Independent Wealth Managers
  • Institutional investors such as pension funds, single family offices and insurance companies

Sales process

  • Making outbound calls to introduce the company and secure meetings with prospects for the sales team
  • Preparing the Business Development Managers for prospecting meetings
  • Coordination of follow-up items from each meeting including entering high quality call reports into the CRM system, Salesforce.com
  • Handling inbound prospect or due diligence requests
  • Proactively managing and resolving internal issues relating to winning business
  • Liaison with other teams inside the company, as part of the sales cycle
  • Involvement in our Client's hosted or third-party events as part of their brand-building efforts in the region
  • Over time, owning a defined set of clients including the development of a sales strategy, setting up prospecting meetings and promoting the company. Client responsibilities will grow as you develop more experience and progress towards becoming a Senior Business Development Associate.

Strategic market planning

  • Market research on our target institutions
  • Development and exploration of new areas for business development
  • Involvement in business planning alongside Business Development Managers and working with Business Management
  • Preparation of management reports to reflect the new business effort
  • Liaison with various industry organisations

Internal projects and Departmental participation

  • Work as part of a collegial team of Business Development Associates that shares ideas and best practices (Geneva, Zurich, London, Monaco etc)
  • Work as part of a broader European Distribution group committed to building our Client's business in Europe

Profile:

  • Masters or Bachelors Degree
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar sales function within relevant industry sectors (asset management or banking)
  • Good generalist knowledge of asset classes and investment management
  • Experience of engaging with prospects, consultants and clients
  • Genuinely interested into Economics and Financial Markets
  • Proven experience in sales (including cold-calling and relationship building)
  • High energy, hard-working, enthusiastic, focused and professional
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially able to influence and persuade
  • Proven experience in sales (including cold-calling and relationship building)
  • Fluent in French and English, good knowledge of German would be a strong plus
  • Eligible for a Geneva work visa if not already in possession of same
