The Schinner Lab is actively seeking outstanding PhD candidates to join the SNSF-funded Starting Grant project "ACTT - Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy: Investigation of new mechanisms and therapeutic targets" - hosted by the Clinic of Cardiology, Inselspital in association with the Department for BioMedical Research (DBMR), University of Bern.
The projectACTT will investigate the early molecular and cellular processes that contribute to the phenotype of the genetic disorder Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy (ACM), aiming to unveil novel protective and regenerative pathways.
You will investigate various ACM model systems (mouse disease models, patient samples, in vitro and ex vivo cardiac equivalents) applying cutting-edge imaging and sequencing techniques to:
- (1) assess the early drivers of the disease with high resolution spatio-temporal transcriptomics
- (2) analyze the role and relevance of different cardiac myocyte subtypes
- (3) explore the therapeutic potential of selected compounds targeting disease modifiers
