The Corporate Strategy Team works directly with our CEO, CFO, business unit Presidents and other senior leaders on a range of dynamic projects to support the long-term growth objectives of the company, including organic and inorganic M&A. Thomson Reuters is a global business with ambitious plans to expand internationally. The markets we play in are dynamic and transforming, driven by AI and acceleration of regulatory reform. The Manager, International Strategy will lead strategy initiatives focused on delivering growth for our international markets outside of the United States.
The Manager, International Strategy will be a core member of the strategy team focused on growing the International business. The role reports into the Strategy leader for International and will help to drive focus and prioritization including answering questions such as which markets to play in, what products to localize and developing our “Build, Buy and Partner” strategy. The role will partner closely with Regional sales leaders, Product, Technology and Marketing. Based in Zug, they will interact closely with International segment leadership to address key strategic questions and drive forward organic and inorganic opportunities.
About the Role
Day-to-Day Responsibilities as Manager, International Strategy:
- Structures and supports cross-functional teams to deliver strategy projects and address key strategic questions facing the business, including organic growth strategy, options analysis and M&A origination and execution
- Expected to play an individual delivery role in executing complex, large analytical and problem solving modules of projects
- Collaborates with and presents recommendations to senior-level stakeholders
- Prepares strategy deliverables for senior audiences including business and functional leads
- Engages externally with customers and other industry participants to maintain a pulse on industry trends, customer needs and the competitive landscape
About You
Essential Skills and Experience for the role of Manager, International Strategy:
- Undergraduate degree required and further relevant education preferred e.g. MBA
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Knowledge of the domains in which Thomson Reuters operates such as Legal and Tax Technology, Media
- Demonstrated experience in leading growth initiatives for international markets
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience working in a top tier strategy consulting or in-house strategy teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Synthesis and simplification of complex ideas
- Highly analytical with strong problem solving abilities
- Experience running financial models and market sizing exercises
- Proven project management skills; the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands
- Proven experience working in large, complex, global organisation
- Successful track record of collaboratively working with colleagues across regions, markets and cultures
- Flexibility in working across multiple time zones
- A team player who can effectively influence and develop relationships with cross-functional teams
- Ability to move at pace, developing pragmatic options and solutions and bringing stakeholders along on the journey
