About the position:
Clinical trials generate a lot of data, at Roche/Genentech, we are trying to use this data in order to make clinical trials more efficient, and effective. Joining Roche/Genentech, you will be at the forefront of innovation within drug discovery and clinical trials. Whether it is in developing open source tools or developing tools that will be used by more than 1000 fellow Roche/Genentech data scientists, you will be working in a multifaceted international team that will be developing and testing software prototypes.
The tool that you will be helping to prototype to take information from an existing database of planned tables, plots and listings called Atlas, in combination with gitlab data events, to build a summary of the current status of planned analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
ETL and Data Engineering:Participate in data collection and metric-building tasks. Gain hands-on experience with data engineering projects, utilizing technologies such as Python and Streamlit.
Learning and Development: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, enhancing your technical skill set in a supportive environment.
Collaboration:Work closely with data science stakeholders and the Atlas team. Engage in direct collaboration with other interns, receiving feedback on both your code and stakeholder interactions from your supervisor.
DevOps and Automation: Apply DevOps principles by contributing to automation workflows, including CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) processes, in collaboration with our dedicated CI/CD for Data Science team.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and performance of the code through regular code reviews and adherence to best practices, with guidance from your mentor.
Additional Responsibilities (Based on Internship Duration):Clinical Trial Orchestration Tool: Contribute to the development of a global automated orchestration tool for clinical trials
Education:
Strong computer science background,
An interest in drug discovery is an advantage
We are looking for a candidate with a diverse educational background that encompasses a multidisciplinary approach to software development from understanding user needs to weighing the pros and cons of different technologies
General Pythonknowledge is preferred with some data engineering experience.
You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of programming, data analyst, software engineering within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship.
Finally, a willingness to experiment and learn newer technologies will be the one skill that will be the most sought after.
Due to regulations non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents.
