ETH Personalized Health Data Service Owner

The Scientific IT Services of ETH Zurich (SIS, a section of the ETH central IT Services ) aims at bridging the gap between computational research and IT services. In doing so it provides a stimulating, flexible and family-friendly working environment; working closely together with ETH researchers to provide support in the wide area of scientific computing from data management and analysis, development of scientific software to the operation of high performance and cloud computing infrastructures. 

The Scientific IT Services of ETH Zurich (SIS) is supporting the biomedical and personalized health research community – one of ETH’s strategic scientific areas - with “big data” and computing services.

In particular, SIS is operating Leonhard Med: a scientific Trusted Research Environment to securely store, manage and process sensitive research data. Leonhard Med presents a unique challenge of establishing a secure scientific IT platform that is compliant with the highest IT security standards, while allowing a high-degree of flexibility for end-user scientist to experiment with cutting edge biomedical research - from classical bioinformatics and statistics to large-scale data analysis to AI and deep learning.

To continue the development and operation of the Leonhard Med platform, SIS is looking for an experienced: Personalized Health Data Service Owner.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the service delivery of a secure Trusted Research Environment for managing confidential and strictly confidential research data, with a focus on personalized health and biomedical research.

As a Personalized Health Data Service Owner, you will be responsible for

Service Management and Coordination:

• Establishing and maintaining a secure, reliable Personalized Health Data Service in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Defining, building, and establishing the Personalized Health Data Services in collaboration with SIS Group Heads, Section Head, and other relevant stakeholders to align with organizational goals and user needs.
• Developing and implementing strategies to ensure the successful deployment and operation of the service.

Progress Evaluation and Oversight:

• Evaluating service progress, setting priorities aligned with organizational goals, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Providing regular updates and performance reports to senior management.
• Overseeing and coordinating the activities of SIS Project Managers involved in personalized health and biomedical research projects.

Customer Liaison

• Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, understanding their needs, addressing inquiries, and ensuring high satisfaction.
• Actively engaging in customer acquisition efforts, anticipating client needs, and facilitating communication between technical teams and customers to tailor solutions.

IT Security and Compliance

• Ensuring compliance with legal requirements
• Review legal documents for data processing and data transfers
• Collaborating with the Leonhard Med Security Engineer to define and establish IT security processes and documentation.
• Ensuring strict adherence to security protocols and conducting regular assessments to identify and mitigate risks effectively.

Representation and Advocacy

• Representing the Personalized Health Data Service and SIS at meetings, conferences, workshops, and other events to advocate for its capabilities and benefits to stakeholders and potential users.
• Coordinating among various stakeholders, including universities and hospitals, on IT and legal issues, processes, and policies related to biomedical data management.
• Delivering presentations, participating in grant writing, and contributing to publications to promote the work of SIS.

Required:

• Experience in IT project management, demonstrating the ability to lead and successfully deliver complex projects.
• Background in IT service management with knowledge of best practices.
• Experience in ensuring legal compliance, particularly concerning data protection and privacy regulations in Switzerland.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Higher degree and experience in wider area of biomedical research
