Your tasks
Join our Scientific Data Curation Group to support the research data management needs of an international collaboration of scientist working on the design of new recyclable materials.

ReMade@ARI (REcyclable MAterials DEvelopment at Analytical Research Infrastructures) is funded by the EU Commission's Horizon Europe program and co-funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation. The project provides scientists who are working on the design of new recyclable materials with analytical tools that enable them to explore the properties and the structure of their material in smallest details up to atomic resolution. ReMade@ARI commits to leverage the development of innovative, sustainable materials for key components in the most diverse sectors, such as electronics, batteries, vehicles, construction, packaging, plastics, textiles, and food on an unprecedented level. It will be the central hub in Europe for all sectors and research areas in which new materials for a circular economy will be developed. The project involves 50 analytical research infrastructures across Europe comprising synchrotrons, free-electron lasers, neutron sources and ion or positron beams. 

Your role
As a participant in the ReMade@ARI consortium, PSI is leading the task on Open Science, and you will join the Scientific Data Curation Group in the new AWI department to play a central role as a Data Steward in the project. The role is available for the duration of the ReMade@ARI project at 50% part until 31 August 2026.

Your role will interface with researchers, service providers and other domain Data Stewards to help develop best practices and in this cross disciplinary initiative working towards the circular economy. 

Your main tasks will include:
  • Work with the ReMade@ARI collaborators to develop and implement data management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with science best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Work with data owners and users to identify and highlight data quality issues and inconsistencies
  • Assist or advise in the development and maintenance of data dictionaries and other metadata to provide accurate and complete descriptions of ReMade@ARI's partners data assets
  • Collaborate with IT staff and other stakeholders to implement and maintain data governance frameworks and tools in a timely manner in accordance with the project timetable
  • Develop and deliver training programs for data owners and users to ensure proper use and handling of ReMade@ARI data assets
  • Monitor and report on the status of ReMade@ARI data assets, including data quality, completeness, and availability

Your profile
As an enthusiastic and talented early career or experienced professional, you are motivated by interdisciplinary work at the interface between the experiment research and research data management. You are strongly interested in learning and building on others' experience in Open Science.

The following expertise would be advantageous:
  • Relevant degree in computing, mathematics, information science or science or equivalent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of issues of Open Science and FAIR data guidelines
  • An interest in operations and developments of the underlying software tools
  • Ability to coordinate a distributed team to plan and deliver a program of work/deliverables
  • Ability to interact with and influence senior people and project stakeholders within and beyond ReMade@ARI
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written in English
  • Ability/willingness to travel internationally as needed (2-3 times a year including overnight stays)

You are a good listener and a strong team player with excellent communication skills and sense of responsibility, fluent in English (spoken and written), speak German (an advantage not a must) or willing to learn it.
