Communication and Partnerships Manager

Solutions to the challenges facing our food system require collaboration between global and local actors along the entire food value chain. Based on this understanding, the World Food System Center at ETH Zurich supports multi- and transdisciplinary research approaches that contribute to sustainable food systems to improve food and nutrition security, human and environmental health, livelihoods and social well-being. 
In collaboration with partners from industry and foundations, we aim to address key food system challenges through research, education, outreach and dialog activities to raise awareness and develop solutions that contribute to food system transformation.

We are looking for a new colleague passionate about food system science and interested in illustrating the work of over 45 research groups in a larger food system context. Our Communication and Partnerships Manager promotes an open, continuous, and important dialogue among science, industry, politics and civil society to support the translation of research results into action.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing all communication activities and tools of the Center and support the team in various outreach and fundraising activities: This includes the following tasks: 

• Plan and develop communication activities based on a regularly evaluated and updated communication strategy
• Define priorities and individually develop the different communication materials and tools of the Center
  • Manage Website and social media content
  • Prepare the Annual Report and quarterly Newsletters
  • Preparation, in collaboration with colleagues, project factsheets and other research communication
  • Develop, in collaboration with colleagues, promotion and communication materials for Center activities
• Support the Executive Director in partnership and fundraising activities
• Support team in the organization of outreach activities (Food Day, public lectures and other events)

The Communication and Partnerships Manager will work in a small and dynamic team at the Center, which is embedded in a larger academic environment. They will be able to connect to researchers, communication experts at ETH and beyond, and many other national and international partners and stakeholders.

To fulfill this role, we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and creative person, who has a background in agriculture, food or environmental sciences and work experience in communications and/or outreach in a field relevant for food system research. Strong project management skills and experience is a must and work experience in an academic environment as well as familiarity to ETH is a strong asset. 

The job requires effective communication, flexibility, and openness as well as the willingness to seek and identify opportunities for collaboration. We are looking for a colleague who is proactive, able to work and decide independently, and resourceful, while also being a strong and authentic team player.

This position allows for development of a strong national and international network and to learn on the job about the various facets of food systems research.
